Relations between affective music and speech: evidence from dynamics of affective piano performance and speech production
This study compares affective piano performance with speech production from the perspective of dynamics: unlike previous research, this study uses finger force and articulatory effort as indexes reflecting the dynamics of affective piano performance and speech production respectively. Moreover, for the first time physical constraints such as piano fingerings and speech articulatory constraints ...
متن کاملAffective Music Information Retrieval
Much of the appeal of music lies in its power to convey emotions/moods and to evoke them in listeners. In consequence, the past decade witnessed a growing interest in modeling emotions from musical signals in the music information retrieval (MIR) community. In this article, we present a novel generative approach to music emotion modeling, with a specific focus on the valence-arousal (VA) dimens...
متن کاملAffective Feature Design and Predicting Continuous Affective Dimensions from Music
This paper presents affective features designed for music and develops a method to predict dynamic emotion ratings along the arousal and valence dimensions. We learn a model to predict continuous time emotion ratings based on combination of global and local features. This allows us to exploit information from both the scales to make a more robust prediction.
متن کاملAffective responses in tamarins elicited by species-specific music.
Theories of music evolution agree that human music has an affective influence on listeners. Tests of non-humans provided little evidence of preferences for human music. However, prosodic features of speech ('motherese') influence affective behaviour of non-verbal infants as well as domestic animals, suggesting that features of music can influence the behaviour of non-human species. We incorpora...
متن کاملMusic-aided affective interaction between human and service robot
This study proposes a music-aided framework for affective interaction of service robots with humans. The framework consists of three systems, respectively, for perception, memory, and expression on the basis of the human brain mechanism. We propose a novel approach to identify human emotions in the perception system. The conventional approaches use speech and facial expressions as representativ...
